About the Course

Are you ready to dive into the world of data engineering? In this beginner level course, you will gain a solid understanding of how data is stored,
processed, and accessed in relational databases (RDBMSes). You will work with different types of databases that are appropriate for various
data processing requirements. You will begin this course by being introduced to relational database concepts, as well as several industry
standard relational databases, including IBM DB2, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Next, you’ll utilize RDBMS tools used by professionals such as
phpMyAdmin and pgAdmin for creating and maintaining relational databases. You will also use the command line and SQL sta...

The final quiz is perfect as no one can use all the materials together and should use his/her information to pass the test so the point is realistic.

It is great course to learn relational databases using different DBMS (Db2, PostgreSQL, and MySQL). Plus, the lab materials are useful to practice.

Course information is uot of date and needs to be updated. One example: a question on the final test: >> When creating a foreign key, how can you define an action to take if a parent table row is updated? Use the ALTER TABLE command Use the ON DELETE CASCADE clause Use the rule clause ("correct answer") Use the CREATE TABLE command But actual: In PostgreSQL, rules are generally considered deprecated in favor of triggers for most use cases, particularly for handling updates to views and data modifications. While the rule system is still functional, triggers offer simpler semantics and are less prone to unexpected behavior, especially with volatile functions or complex queries.

Content is good. Probably too much focus on DB2 but that is to be expected from IBM. But the lab service is sometimes unusably slow. You may not be able to finish the final project, as on some days, the labs never load... You can follow along to an extent on mariadb or something on your own computer or server but the labs just don't load on the weekend. If the content looks good to you, go ahead and watch the videos, but don't expect to be able to finish the certificate because the labs might just be down.

The course is good, but some of the labs can be extremely frustrating. I understand the designers cannot be responsible for all user configurations, but I would highly suggest that lab content have more troubleshooting comments directly in the lab instead of only in the discussion forum, particularly around options for getting data into and out of the lab environment.

Subjects were made very clear but some explanations lacked information; e.g. when talking about indexing: the topic is way deeper than it was taught. I had to do tons of extra reading to be confident with RDBMS. I know this is what I am supposed to do, but I expected just a little bit more from the videos.

Nonetheless, it is a very professional course. Congrats!

The course is a great introduction to SQL but have some critical flaws: - Promote bad practices in some lessons (use lowercase in SQL statements and saturate queries in one liners) - Some quizes evaluate correct answers as wrong and even doesn't have a correct answer.

Il corso è ottimo, i laboratori hanno dei tempi troppo ridotti per poter lavorare spensieratamente

Of the five courses I've completed in IBM's Professional Certificate in Data Engineering, this one has been by far the most disappointing. I'm extremely frustrated with the excessive product placement, particularly for your cloud offerings. I enrolled in this course to learn about relational databases, not to hear a sales pitch about your database management system. While I understand the need to promote your products, I believe it should be done in a more subtle and integrated manner, rather than dedicating entire sections of the course to product demonstrations. Additionally, I've had significant issues with your Db2 on Cloud service, including being unable to create a simple table. Despite numerous support requests, I haven't received any adequate assistance from course moderators, Cognitive Class support, or the IBM Cloud support team. It's disappointing to see a company promote a product that doesn't live up to its claims. Learner time is valuable, and it shouldn't be wasted on learning about a subpar product like Db2.

Only few things are working right in the lab. I would not recommend it. Also, the explanation of the thread is nonexistent, you have to search it elsewhere. Yet I still learned something.
